Sometimes technicians may create work orders for cars not knowing that these cars have already been worked on by other technicians. This issue can be solved by notifying technicians of existing work orders with the same VIN.

To turn on notifications of work orders with duplicate VIN

  • In the Back Office application, on the Company tab, click Work Order Types, and then click Edit next to the appropriate work order type.
  • In the Work Order Type dialog box, select the Vehicle History Enforced check box, and then click OK.
  • On mobile device, on the Home screen, tap Settings, and then on the Settings screen, in the VIN section, turn on the Check Duplicates option.

Now when technicians create a new work order and type or scan a VIN that has already been used in other work orders, the warning message Existing work orders were found for this vehicle appears.
