You can use default discounts to create a flexible discount policy for repair order services: choose between percentage and fixed amount discount types and set specific discount rates per service, area, client, and repair location.

Required Subscriptions: PercentageGroups, Money Percentage Groups, Extended Discounts/Fees

To set up a default discount

  • On the Services page, click Manage Discounts/Fees on the toolbar, and then on the Discounts/Fees page, click Add on the toolbar.

  • In the Discount/Fee dialog box, enter the appropriate settings, and then click OK.

You can enter the following settings:

  • Name: is displayed in the list of default discounts when you add them while approving repair order services

  • Type: defines whether the discount amount is calculated or fixed

    • % type means that when you add this discount to a repair order service, its amount will be calculated as a percentage of the repair order service amount.

    • $ type means that when you add this discount to a repair order service, this particular amount will be deducted from the repair order service amount.

  • Wholesale: discount is applied to services in repair orders created for wholesale clients

  • Retail: discount is applied to services in repair orders created for retail clients

  • Override WO Discount: means that the default discount must override any other discounts applied on the work order level.

  • Apply To: defines the scope to which the discount is applied:

    • Price means that the discount is applied to the service price before calculating the amount

    • Total means that the discount is applied to the total amount after all calculations

      • Important: only discounts applied to the ‘Total’ appear in the list of discounts on the ‘Repair Order Approval’ page

  • Use for all services: means that this discount will be displayed in the list of discounts on the ‘Repair Order Approval’ page for any service that is pending approval

  • On the Discounts/Fees page, click the Services link next to the appropriate discount.

  • On the Discount/Fee Settings page, enter the appropriate settings, and then click Update.

You can enter the following settings:

  • Discount / Fee allows selecting a default discount for further settings

  • Level defines if the default discount settings must be overridden by the default settings of a selected:

    • Service

    • Area

    • Client

    • Repair Location

  • Assigned Services section allows you to enter discount settings (per assigned service) that will override both the default discount settings and the default settings of the selected area, client, or repair location.

Note If the settings of a default discount are overridden on multiple levels, the discount of the higher priority level will be applied (‘service’ level is the lowest and ‘repair location’ level is the highest), for example, the default discount ‘GoodWill’ is -10%:

  • If you select the ‘Service’ level override and set up -15% discount for the assigned service ‘Oil Change’, when you apply the ‘GoodWill’ discount to the ‘Oil Change’ service it will be calculated as -15%.

  • If you additionally select the ‘Area’ level override and set up -20% discount for the assigned service ‘Oil Change’ in the ‘Florida’ area, when you apply the ‘GoodWill’ discount to the ‘Oil Change’ service in the ‘Florida’ area, it will be calculated as -20%.
